Balkanazation?

So we could split up Nigeria into two different countries. But would that really help anything? If you think about regions that have volatile boundary disputes, take Palestine and Israel or Pakistan and India, you'll find that their separation only produces more woes. I think the same will be true for Nigeria if it ever decides to partition, presumably, between the Muslim North and the Christian South. The Nigerian government should make a good faith effort to unify the country by whatever means possible before any serious talks about partitioning are considered.

I'll end with a quote from a dear scholar, Adam Escandell:
"Balkanizing Nigeria would be the easy thing to do. Creating new borders won’t help- they will be as arbitrary as the original no matter how much effort is placed into making them fit along cultural/political lines. In a prosperous, just, educated nation tolerance is the norm. The first solution for any internal strife problems is to make the country more equitable, more just, and more educated."
